Introduction and Objectives Einführung und Ziele Introduction et buts In 1996 the EHF produced the „Basic Handball“ video. Since then there have been numerous suggestions to produce a training aid, in the form of a booklet, which would supplement this video. The EHF Methods Commission has carefully considered whether it would be worthwhile to produce something that would more or less be an official training aid for youth and performance development. The considerations that have to be taken into account were the varied history, methodical and educational concepts of handball and training in Europe. The 2nd EHF Lecturers’ Course, which took place in Alanya / TUR in 1996, did however clearly prove that despite these structural differences it would be perfectly possible to devise a European model „Staircase to Handball“. The aim of this model is, not as it was so often before, to divert the training development of mini and youth handball away from the adult game. It is to define objectives, instructions and methods relating to the specific age ranges. Therefore Basic Handball is aimed at the male/female 11 14 year old age group. The following detailed exercises and descriptions are meant merely as suggestions and do not claim to be a complete methodical and didactical balance. 1996 hat die EHF die Video-Kassette „Basic Handball“ herausgegeben. Seither gab es zahlreiche Anregungen, zu diesem Video eine Trainingshilfe in Form einer Broschüre zu produzieren. Die „Methodik Kommission“ hat lange überlegt, ob es angesichts der vielen unterschiedlichen historischen, methodischen sowie pädagogisch-didaktischen Auffassungen über Handballspiel und Training in Europa sinnvoll ist, eine mehr oder weniger offizielle Orientierungshilfe zur Jugendförderung und Leistungsaufbau herauszugeben. Der „2nd EHF Lecturers’ Course“ im Jahr 1996 in Alanya / TUR hat jedoch klar gezeigt, dass es trotz dieser strukturellen Unterschiede durchaus möglich ist, ein europäisches Modell „Staircase to Handball“ zu entwickeln. Ziel dieses Modells ist nicht wie so oft in der Vergangenheit den Trainingsaufbau für Kinderund Jugendhandball vom Erwachsenenhandball abzuleiten, sondern altersspezifische Ziele, Inhalte und Methoden zu definieren. So richtet sich „Basic Handball“ an die Altersgruppe der 11 14jährigen männlichen sowie weiblichen Jugend. Die in der Folge beschriebenen Übungen und Inhalte sind als Anregungen gedacht und erheben keinen Anspruch auf vollkommene methodisch-didaktische Ausgewogenheit. Par ailleurs, compte tenu des diverses conceptions du handball à travers l’Europe, dues à des raisons historiques, méthodologiques ainsi que pédagogiques et didactiques, „la Commission des Méthodes“ a longtemps réfléchi à l’opportunité de faire paraître un concept d’orientation sur la progression et la recherche d’une meilleure performance chez les jeunes. Le „2 me stage EHF des intervenants“ à Alanya / TUR en 1996 a cependant clairement démontré que malgré ces différences de structure le développement d’un modèle européen „Staircase to Handball“ pourrait s’avérer utile.
