The City
anders, a city of 61,000 inhabitants, lies on the Jut-
land peninsula in central Denmark. It is Denmark's
Rsixth-largest city, and Denmark's only natural river
harbor (on the banks of the River Guden). This location has
had great significance for trade by sea.

and by water, make Randers a dynamic center for trade and
commerce. Known for the many access roads leading into
the city, it has engendered the popular saying, "Where the
waterway meets the 13 highways".
Randers is referred to as Crown Jutland and the people as Crown Jutlanders, probably due
to the big Crown estates owned by the King.
For decades handball has been one of the most popular sports in Randers with ten hand-
ball clubs in the city - almost every citizen in the city has played handball. The Danish na-
tional teams, especially the women's national team, often play in Randers because of the
huge interest and support from the
people in the city.
